It is law in the UK for all human occupants of a motor vehicle to wear a seat belt. But did you know that if an accident occurred, your dog could be turned into a projectile exerting a force of up to 20 times its body weight? This means, if you have a collision at 30mph even a small dog weighing only 10kg, could hit you with an effective weight of 200kg, causing serious injury to you both.

I searched high and low for a seat belt system that had a proven safety record, was practical to use and didn't cost the earth. The seat belt systems available in the UK weren’t at all convincing, mainly because it was clear most would be useless in a collision - they are purely to keep your dog from moving about the vehicle and look like modified walking harnesses. They certainly could not hold the forces developed in an accident.

Collar tags

These are very practical – they can be personalised without engraving and, because they are not made of metal, they are weather-proof, lightweight, and hypoallergenic. Nonetheless, I bought five of these at Crufts for all my favourite dogs and cats just because they looked so cool!
